Everything You Need To Know About The Number Eight

The Number Eight

Of all the numbers in Numerology, the number 8 is the achiever and measures life by the goals it reaches. It has good business sense, a powerful presence, and a strong drive for success.

The 8 is also a symbol of balance -- you can see it in its symmetrical shape. For every blessing it receives, it puts one back out to the universe. When things are balanced, they feel stable,

controlled, and supported, which is the most productive environment for the 8 to work in.

The symbolism backing number eight deals largely with business, success, and wealth. This is due to the fact that eight represents continuation, repetition, and cycles.

Such elements are seen in arenas where success is obtained simply because of dogged determination and repetition. Also, matters of business and wealth largely depend on

cycles to fulfill their manifestation. It’s like the snowball analogy: As it continues to roll, in gets bigger and bigger with each revolution. Eight represents that kind of momentum.

	Strengths of the Number Eight

Ambitious: To say the 8 has ambition would be putting it lightly -- they live to achieve! This number is on a mission to reach as many goals and garner as much success as possible.

It is strategic in its methods and dedicated to its purpose. The good feelings that come from accomplishment give the 8 everything it needs to keep climbing upward.

Karmic: In a spiritual sense, the number 8 is all about giving back. It realizes that its successes are not its alone and will intentionally recognize and appreciate any help it has received.

It balances achievement with gratitude, which can then be rebalanced with more achievement -- it's a cycle of success that the 8 is continuously manifesting.

Enduring: Even when the chips are down, the 8 in Numerology has a great sense of fortitude. It knows it is capable, but that capability often isn't the only factor at play. With patience and determination,

the 8 is confident that things will come around eventually. It is willing to go through struggle because it has no doubt that prosperity is on the other side.

	Weakness of the Number Eight

Materialistic: The 8 likes to revel in its accomplishments by surrounding itself with nice things. It looks at this as a personal reward and a way to rebalance the cycle of manifestation. Unfortunately,

to others this trait can make the 8 appear shallow or like a show-off. It may also attract opportunists who misunderstand the 8's intentions.

Authoritative: It's no surprise all this accomplishment goes straight to the number 8's head. It's used to being a leader and this gives it a feeling of personal power.

But the 8 always assumes its way is the right way and, by dismissing others' opinions and ignoring their efforts, it may lose their support even faster than it gained it.

Entitled: The 8 in Numerology isn't about to ask for permission or forgiveness. Its need to succeed can make it blind to rules and processes, but ignoring these limits and taking things into its own hands

makes teamwork impossible and drives a wedge in partnerships. The number 8 is so used to getting its way that it now expects it.

The Number Eight in your Life Path

The Life Path number 8 personality is one of hard work and hard lessons. People born with this Life Path number get their worth from accomplishing great things -- the bigger the goal, the more satisfying it feels when they achieve it.

Money and material goods are important to them because they are rewards and reminders of all the effort put in. People with this Life Path direct all their energy into creating a life of success and abundance.

Dealing with people in positions of authority is often tough for people born with an 8 Life Path number. Because they are leaders themselves and are supremely confident in their abilities,

they don't take kindly to being told what to do -- especially if it goes against what they would choose to do. 8 people, too, can also come across as authoritative and must learn that all relationships are about harmony.

With all the work these Life path people put into reaching their goals and feeling accomplished, they would be wise to pay attention to their health. Stress is the all-too-familiar enemy of those

born with this Life Path number and, if allowed, it will slow down or deter these people on their path to reaching their goals. Making time for meditation, friendship, and enjoyable pursuits helps to bring things

back into balance. Health is wealth, so maintaining a healthy lifestyle should be a top priority. When it comes to relationships, people with an 8 Life Path will put in the same work and dedication that they put into everything else.

They do well in long-term situations, but these relationships may look more like business arrangements than passionate love affairs. Life Path number 8 people see themselves as providers and willingly

take on the role of supporting a partner or family. They know they are self-sufficient, but when they see that they are prosperous enough to also provide for loved ones, to them, that's proof of success.

	Eight manifesting in TAROT

   Ruled by Saturn.

In Tarot, the card that's associated with the number 8 is Strength -- the eighth Tarot card in the deck. This card represents the karmic power and careful control of the 8 in Numerology.

Within Astrology, it's the zodiac signs Scorpio and Capricorn that are connected to the 8. Scorpio is the eighth sign of the zodiac and holds the same strength and resolve as this number.

Capricorn, which is ruled by respectable Saturn, is the sign of professionalism, achievement, and prestige, so its connection to the number 8 in Numerology is clear as day.

The Tarot Deck advises us in many ways. The spread of cards before you is a layering of outlooks on your consciousness. Tarot cards are organized by suits, as well as by numerical order. Cards often carry illustrations of the same object,

animal or type of person. All of these illustrations and subsets mean something. The universe is organized in an epic manner and the Tarot’s intricacy delivers this energy. As we search and seek and gain desire for things to be a certain way,

we often ignore boundaries. It is good to know your limitations and accept what can and cannot be done. The number Eight in the Tarot deck describes boundaries, limitations and situations that are inherently intractable.

There are six cards in the Tarot deck with the number eight and each of them depicts a situation where you can gain by simply understanding the boundaries in a given situation, relationship or an important area of your life.

In addition to two cards in the Major Arcana (Strength, numbered 8 and The Moon, numbered 18), there is an Eight of Swords, Wands, Pentacles and Cups.

 	 STRENGTH

This card is the foundation of the other cards bearing an eight that follow it. It truly asks you to know your own strength. Are you taking on too much? Are you disorganized and in jeopardy of losing everything you have?

The card shows a woman petting a lion. There is no display of physical intensity in this picture. The woman’s inner strength has caused the king of the beasts to lovingly submit. Knowing when to give in is just as important as knowing

when to politely take control of a situation.

 	 THE MOON

This is the card of the animal part of our brain where intellect and reason are controlled by emotion and instinct. When this card appears you will be forced to deal with your gut feelings and how they interfere with your daily routine.

Are you blocking yourself from success because you are wallowing in negative emotions? Understanding self-awareness can open your eyes to seeing how your behavior affects everyone else as well as yourself.

This is a card that insists you develop empathy for others.

	EIGHT OF WANDS

The bright blue sky shows a groundless scene of eight walking sticks, or wands, being tossed in the air. Are they rising or falling? We do not know. But what we do know is that there are too many of them to control.

When you are feeling creative, you often have many great ideas. The Eight of Wands illustrates how having too many options can often simply lead to chaos.

	EIGHT OF CUPS

This is the card that insists you move on from an overwhelming emotional situation. In connecting with the emotions illustrated in card number 18, this card illustrates the face on the Moon watching a man leave behind a stack of cups.

Cups are the Tarot’s indicator of emotions. Where others may try to establish an intimacy that you neither want nor should allow, you must enforce boundaries. The thing to do is to simply walk away, to anywhere else, as a way to establish good boundaries.

The limits of love and friendship should protect your emotions, not leave them vulnerable.

 	EIGHT OF SWORDS

The gloomy slate gray sky underscores that boundaries ignored can lead to isolation. Swords represent ideas and communication. Often our harsh words or attitude will cut us off from other people.

No matter how deeply dear an idea or philosophy may be to you, other people who see it differently are entitled to their own opinion. The illustration of a blindfolded and bound woman indicates a closed mind and all discussion ended.

When you demand that people heed your word, people may not be around much longer. The boundaries you set up might be constricting you.

	EIGHT OF PENTACLES

The way to wealth is through simple hard work. This card shows you that focus and persistence are limitations that benefit your overall wellbeing. There is simplicity in this card that underscores getting things done.

When it is time to work and not play, the focus on the task at hand will bring in positive energy. The boundary of self-discipline is one of great rewards.

However, you should keep in mind its biblical meaning as well.

Number 8 has an important place in the Bible. The first thing we have to say is that number 8 is used 73 times in the Bible.

According to the Bible, number 8 is considered to be a symbol of creation and new beginnings. We all know that Jesus was crucified in order to take away all the sins of humanity. It is known that Jesus resurrected on the 17th of Nisan,

but if we take into account that 17 is composed of numbers 1 and 7, we have that 1+7 gives 8. Also, Nisan 17 was actually the 8th day from the day on which Jesus was selected to be sacrificied.

Because of that we can say that number 8 could be a symbol of sacrifice and victory. Number 8 comes right after number 7 that is known as a symbol of completeness. If something has ended with number 7, it means that something new has to begin with number 8.

The number 8 in the Bible represents a new beginning, meaning a new order or creation, and man's true 'born again' event when he is resurrected from the dead into eternal life.

Like the Old Testament Passover lamb, Jesus was selected as the Lamb to take away man's sins on the Hebrew day of Nisan 10 (April 1, 30 A.D. - John 12: 28 - 29).

He was crucified on Nisan 14 (Wednesday, April 5 in 30 A.D.). His resurrection occurred, exactly as he stated, three days and three nights after he was buried, which was at the end of the weekly Sabbath day that fell on Nisan 17 (seventeen symbolizes victory).

Nisan 17 was also the eighth day, counting inclusively, from the time Christ was selected as man's sacrificial Lamb. All this bears record of Jesus' perfect sacrifice and His complete victory over death.

Jesus showed himself alive eight times after his resurrection from the dead. His first appearance alive was to Mary Magdalene (Mark 16:9 - 11). He then showed himself to two disciples traveling to Emmaus (Luke 24).

Next, he appeared to all the disciples except Thomas (John 20:19 - 24) then a week later to all them when Thomas was present (John 20:26 - 29).

According to the apostle Paul, Christ also was seen by 500 believers at one time (1Corinthians 15:4 - 7). Jesus also met his disciples at the appointed place in Galilee (Matthew 28:16 - 17)

and on Galilee's shores (John 21:1 - 24). His final meeting was on the Mount of Olives, where he gave his followers instructions before ascending to heaven (Acts 1).

Already having said that number 8 is a symbol of a new beginning and also a symbol of a new order. It is also known that God rested on the 7th day, which means that the 8th day was always a day for the new beginning.

There is no doubt that number 8 was very significant for God because he chose the 8th day to be the beginning of a new week.

Boys were to be circumcised on the 8th day. The number 8 symbolizes circumcision of the heart through Christ and the receiving of the Holy Spirit (Romans 2:28 - 29, Colossians 2:11 - 13).

After the 7 weeks of the spring harvest, the next day, the 50th day, is Pentecost. This day is also the eighth day of the seventh week. This 8th and 50th day combination pictures the first resurrection when the saints

will be raised from the dead and made immortal (1Corinthians 15:20 - 23, John 3:3 - 12, Revelation 20:4 - 6). After the 7 days of the Feast of Tabernacles there is an 8th day, called the Last Great Day.

Forty different people wrote the Scriptures. Forty is a number composed of five (symbolizing grace) times 8 (symbolizing a new beginning). It is therefore only by God's grace and love that man will

someday be given a chance for a new beginning, as promised in the Word of God.

 	   Eight In measurement

In Computer Programing the bit is a basic unit of information in computing and digital communications. The name is a portmanteau of binary digit. The bit represents a logical state with one of two possible values.

These values are most commonly represented as either "1"or"0", but other representations such as true/false, yes/no, +/−, or on/off are common. A byte is Eight bits. The trend in hardware design converged on the most common implementation

of using Eight bits per byte, as it is widely used today. However, because of the ambiguity of relying on the underlying hardware design, the unit octet was defined to explicitly denote a sequence of Eight bits.

Computers usually manipulate bits in groups of a fixed size, conventionally named "words". Like the byte, the number of bits in a word also varies with the hardware design, and is typically between 8 and 80 bits. Currently Retail, Personal or Server computers

have a word size of 32 or 64 bits. Based on the Number 8. Computer Memory is based in 8's. 128 Mb 256 Mb 512 Mb 1024 Mb or 1 Gig Byte etc

  	  Buddhism

In Buddhism, the 8-spoked Dharmacakra represents the Noble Eightfold Path. The steps of the Noble Eightfold Path are Right Understanding, Right Thought, Right Speech, Right Action, Right Livelihood, Right Effort, Right Mindfulness and Right Concentration.

The Buddha's principal teaching—the Four Noble Truths—ramifies as the Noble Eightfold Path and the Buddha emphasizes the importance of the eight attainments or jhanas.

In Mahayana Buddhism, the branches of the Eightfold Path are embodied by the Eight Great Bodhisattvas. These are later (controversially) associated with the Eight Consciousnesses according to the Yogacara school of thought:

consciousness in the five senses, thought-consciousness, self-consciousness, and unconsciousness-"consciousness" or "store-house consciousness". The "irreversible" state of enlightenment, at which point a Bodhisattva goes on "autopilot"

    In general, "eight" seems to be an auspicious number for Buddhists, e.g., the "eight auspicious symbols" (the jewel-encrusted parasol; the goldfish (always shown as a pair, e.g., the glyph of Pisces);

the self-replenishing amphora; the white kamala lotus-flower; the white conch; the eternal (Celtic-style, infinitely looping) knot; the banner of imperial victory; the eight-spoked wheel that guides the ship of state, or that symbolizes the Buddha's teaching).

Eight Awakenings:1 The world is impermanent: Contemplating that everything changes, you are released from the endless cycle of birth and death. 2 More desire brings more suffering: Realizing that getting what you desire won’t bring happiness, you relax your clinging.

3 The human mind is always searching outside itself and never feels fulfilled: Liberation comes from cultivating contentment, not from more things or experiences. 4 Diligent effort is needed to free yourself from the prison of samsara: Unravelling your deep-seated

clinging to a permanent self takes hard work and persistence. 5 Ignorance is the cause of the endless round of birth and death: You seek the best teaching and training to counteract your habit of ignoring reality.

6 Poverty creates hatred and anger: You are generous and treat all beings with equanimity. 7 The five categories of sensual desire—money, sex, fame, overeating, and oversleeping—lead to problems: Sensory pleasures imprison you in unwholesome ways of being.

8 The fire of birth and death is raging, causing endless suffering everywhere: You vow to save all sentient beings from the suffering of cyclical existence.

Similarly, Buddha's birthday falls on the 8th day of the 4th month of the Chinese calendar.

The eight worldly concerns classify the attachments and aversions that yoke us to samsara, the cycle of suffering. They are the four hopes and corresponding four fears, which we cycle through endlessly—until, that is, we discover enlightenment

(which includes liberation from the eight worldly concerns). 1 & 2: Happiness vs. Suffering

Once we have happiness, fear arises, for we are afraid to lose it. When suffering arises, no amount of wishful thinking makes it go away. The more we hope for it to be otherwise, the more pain we feel.

    3 & 4: Fame vs. Insignificance

We are obsessed with fame and afraid of our own insignificance. When it dawns on us how hard we need to work to be seen as someone special, our fear of insignificance is only magnified.

    5 & 6: Praise vs. Blame

We need to be pumped up constantly or we begin to have doubts about our worth. When we are not searching for praise, we are busy trying to cover up our mistakes so we don’t get caught.

    7 & 8: Gain vs. Loss

Just as we are about to congratulate ourselves on our success, the bottom falls out. Over and over, things are hopeful one moment and the next they are not, and in either case we are anxious.
